Export plates near the German border: where to find us
Auto Export Verzekering is located at Oude Boekeloseweg 33, 7553 DS Hengelo, in the province of Overijssel in the east of the Netherlands. Hengelo lies on the A1 and A35 motorways in the Enschede and Gronau region, a short drive from the German border. That makes the office a convenient stop if you are coming in from Germany.

Opening hours, and 24/7 by appointment
Office visits are by appointment only, including Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00. Book by phone or WhatsApp and share your expected arrival time so we can prepare the policy and plates. Appointments outside this standard-rate period may cost more; we will tell you the amount in advance.
Our WhatsApp is answered around the clock, including at weekends, so you can arrange an appointment on a Saturday evening for a Sunday morning pick-up. Saturday is a normal opening day for the office, even though it is not a working day for DHL Express: if you need the plates at the weekend, collecting them in Hengelo is the practical solution.
What to bring to the office
We can prepare the policy using the registration number, so sending the details below in advance keeps your visit short. Bring the following:
- The Dutch registration number of the vehicle, preferably with the registration certificate or a photo of it.
- Your identity document, in case the insurer requires a copy for the policy.
- The destination country and the start date of the 14 days.
- For a business invoice: the company name, address and VAT number.
- If we are to do the export deregistration for you: the documents and the Dutch number plates listed in the RDW box below.
- Not the vehicle: it can stay with the seller, so you can collect the plates before you pick it up.
RDW export deregistration at our office in Hengelo
Before a vehicle can leave the Netherlands on white export plates, it has to be reported for export at the RDW, which ends its Dutch registration and gives the buyer the RDW export document. If the seller has not done this yet, for example after a private sale, there is no need to go anywhere else first. RDW export deregistration at our office
Has the vehicle not been deregistered for export yet? As an RDW-recognised export company, we report the export to the RDW on the spot in Hengelo and then arrange the export insurance with the green card and the white export plates straight away. Unable to come to the office? Then we can do it remotely, at a higher rate: only the yellow Dutch number plates go to us by post (you may cut or fold them to fit an envelope), while photos or copies of your ID and the registration card, plus the tenaamstellingscode, reach us by e-mail or WhatsApp.
Bring a driving licence, identity card or passport, the registration card (kentekencard) with the tenaamstellingscode (older papers: part 1B and overschrijvingsbewijs) and the Dutch number plates to hand in. No need to bring the vehicle.
Price: €50 per vehicle at our office during opening hours, the same for every vehicle type, on top of the export insurance, with everything arranged in one visit. Outside office hours or remotely, a higher rate applies; ask us for the price.
What happens during your visit
If the vehicle still has to be reported for export, we do that first. Then we check the vehicle type and confirm the exact price, you pay, and we issue the export insurance with one of the insurers we work with. You receive the green card as a PDF by e-mail, so it is on your phone before you leave. The white export plates are handed over at the same time, a pair or a single plate depending on the vehicle. Collecting your export plates in Hengelo: who it suits
The office suits anyone who wants the plates in hand before meeting the seller: buyers driving in from Germany, buyers who fly into the Netherlands and travel on by train, dealers who collect several vehicles at once and want one invoice, and transport companies whose driver picks up a truck or tractor unit in the region. If you plan to leave straight after the handover, collecting in person also saves you the wait for a parcel.

At the office we speak English and Dutch. Buyers who speak neither are welcome too: on WhatsApp and by e-mail we help in other languages using translation apps, and a prepared message with the vehicle details means the visit itself needs very few words. If you prefer to bring someone who speaks English or Dutch, that is of course fine.

Do I need an appointment to visit the office in Hengelo?

How far is Hengelo from the German border?
Hengelo lies in the east of the Netherlands, in the Enschede and Gronau region, on the A1 and A35 motorways. The German border is a short drive away: the A1 crosses into Germany near Bad Bentheim, and Enschede borders Gronau. If you are coming from Germany, or driving home through northern Germany, a stop in Hengelo is easy to combine with your route.
What should I bring to the office to get the plates immediately?
Mainly the registration number of the vehicle (the registration certificate or a photo of it helps), an identity document, the destination country and the start date you want for the 14 days. Business buyers add their company details for the invoice. If the vehicle still has to be reported for export, add the Dutch number plates and the registration card with its tenaamstellingscode, so that we can do the deregistration first. Sending these details via WhatsApp before you come means the policy and the plates can be ready on arrival.
Can you do the RDW export deregistration for me?
Yes. As an RDW-recognised export company we report the vehicle for export at the RDW for you. The standard way is at our office in Hengelo during opening hours, for €50 per vehicle on top of the export insurance, whatever the vehicle type. Bring your driving licence, identity card or passport, the registration card (kentekencard) with the tenaamstellingscode (for older papers: part 1B, the tenaamstellingsbewijs, with the overschrijvingsbewijs) and the Dutch number plates, which you hand in to us. In the same visit we arrange the export insurance, the green card and the white export plates. Outside office hours, by appointment, or remotely, where you post us just the yellow plates and send the rest by e-mail or WhatsApp, the deregistration costs more; ask us for the price.
Can I come on a Sunday or late in the evening?
Yes, by appointment. Outside the regular hours, Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, we are open 24/7 by appointment. Book it by phone or WhatsApp, if possible a day ahead, and ask for the price, because a higher rate may apply outside opening hours. That way a Sunday morning departure or a late evening handover at the seller still works.
Does the vehicle have to come to Hengelo for the export deregistration or the plates?
No. Neither the RDW export deregistration nor the export insurance with the white plates requires the vehicle itself: we work from its papers and, for the deregistration, the Dutch number plates you hand in. The vehicle can wait at the seller while you visit us. Afterwards you fit the white plates there and leave straight away, with the green card already in your inbox.
I am buying a car in Enschede or elsewhere in Twente. Should I collect the plates at your office?
In most cases that is the practical choice. If the seller is in Twente, collecting the plates in Hengelo saves the shipping surcharge and the wait for a parcel. Send us the registration number, your name, the destination and the start date in advance, come by during opening hours or by appointment, and you leave with the plates and the green card in one visit.
